The Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP has alleged that, the NDC has planned to amend the Chieftaincy act when they come to power, to reduce the powers bestowed on the Asantehene by the constitution.
According to him, the NDC has no good intentions towards the Asantehene and Asanteman when they are voted into office. The Constitution per the Chieftaincy Act gives supremacy to the Otumfuor as the only traditional Ruler in Ghana to be be regarded as king. It category mentions the Otumfuor ahead of every paramount chief in the country.
According to the Chieftaincy law, every president of the Regional house of chief has a tenure of office and is subjected to re-election after the office tenure it sidelines the Asantehene and a few who are automatically the President of the respective regional house of Chiefs.
In a video trending on the Internet, Abronye is caught alleging that, the Dormaahene’s recent attack on Otumfuor challenging his king status is part of the plot by the NDC to take the powers of the Asantehene down. He also mentioned that, Dela Edem’s recent denigration of President Kufuor were all part of the plots by the NDC to drag the reputation of great men of Asanteman down.
Abronye further called on all Ashantis to be united and vote out against the NDC if they want to maintain the supremacy of their Asantehene and also protect his legacies. He also charged them to be cautious of every engagement the NDC will have with them and male sure the NPP is given the massive support to hold in high esteem the rich cultural heritage of the Asante Kingdom.
