Galamsey fight: Organized Labour cannot tell us what to do – Dr. Serebour

The President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Serebour has boldly stated Organised Labour cannot tell the GMA what to do.

According to Dr. Frank Serebour, the Ghana Medical Association it must be stated clearly and unambiguously that the Ghana Medical Association is not a subset of Organised Labour.

Speaking at the Ghana Medical Association 66th Annual General Conference, he said, “Galamsey is something most of us hate, the destruction of our forest reserve and the pollution of our water bodies is unpardonable, I will however want to address the ghost of Organised Labor at this congress”.

“Indeed, this is a creation of our own the Frankenstein of our time which may continue to hunt us all into the future it must be stated clearly and unambiguously that the Ghana Medical Association is not a subset of Organised Labour, we are not, we are an independent association and a Labour Union that takes and should take decisions on our own terms and principles”.

He added that GMA cannot and should not be salivating when Organised Labour rings the bell.

Last month news broke that the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) would not take part in Organized Labor’s anti-galamsey strike. Organized Labour, however, later suspended their planned October 10 strike over the illegal mining menace.
