Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the New Patriotic Party government of stealing drones they bought with taxpayers’ money.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, the NPP government has stolen the drones just like they stole the excavators that were seized during the anti-galamsey fight some years ago.
Reports indicate $3 million worth of drones intended to combat illegal mining (galamsey) have reportedly gone missing, raising questions about government oversight.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, Sammy Gyamfi boldly accused the NPP government of being thieves, he said, “Where are the drones you bought with our taxes, thieves, they have stolen it, there are reports on that, thieves they have stolen the drones, they have stolen excavators and they have stolen drones and he comes to sit here, they are stealers in the words of Sheik IC Quaye”.
Sammy Gyamfi further went to send a stern warning to the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi, and galamsey promoters
He stated, “If the NDC comes to power and you go and promote illegal mining you will be arrested mark my word, it will not just be a talking matter, when the NDC was in power we dealt with Wontumi he could not do illegal mining and I will tell you, Wontumi is the first person we will arrest quote me anywhere for illegal mining”.
“That devastation he has caused in the Tano Nimri forest reserve, destroying that water body he will pay for it at least the Minerals Commission has issued an official corresponding that what he did there was illegal mining he will never go scot-free under John Mahama, you think we will be a useless government instead of us working with the power entrusted with the people you will say we want unity nobody will be spared” he boldly added.
