Students of St. Teresa’s College of Education (Teresco) refused to be cajoled into voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Representatives of the NPP received resounding boos from students when they visited the school to campaign at their SRC Congress.
The leader of the campaign while delivering a speech to the students touted government interventions put in place for both teachers and teacher trainees.
He claimed the government had promised to restore teacher trainees’ allowance and had approved payments to students.
He also added that accessing student loans from the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) had become easier as teacher trainees could access the loans with their Ghana cards.
Upon saying this, students began booing at the team as this was false. Nursing and teacher trainees do not qualify for loans form the SLTF as they are paid allowances.
The boos of students increased as they could be seen signaling for change and calling them off the stage. Some of the students pulled out flags and branded scarfs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) waving them around in the auditorium. This signified their dislike for the ruling party (NPP) and the demand for change.
