Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, has filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) over his disqualification from the presidential race in the December polls.
His law suit comes bearly 48 hours when the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Anbataayela Mornah went to court to sue the EC over his disqualification from the presidential race in the upcoming December polls.
Asamoah-Siaw and 10 others were disqualified from the race, while 13 others, including four independent candidates, were qualified.
The EC explained that the presidential aspirants were disqualified from participating in the December 7, 2024, elections due to their failure to correct errors on their nomination forms.
Mr Asamoah-Siaw is praying the court for an order to quash a letter dated September 20, 2024, under the authorship of the EC Chairperson, preventing him from contesting the presidential election.
He noted that not a single error was identified or pinpointed by the EC to adequately inform him and the party of the nature of the error to enable them to effect the possible and necessary corrections.
