Over one thousand persons living with disabilities were left stranded at the Accra Digital Center yesterday after the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) had promised to provide training and personnel development to ease their burden.
However, their expectations were dashed when they were left unattended from morning until evening, with no communication from the authorities.
The only provisions made for them were rice and groundnut soup to eat, and a GHC50 transportation allowance.
Some of the attendees, who had traveled from other regions for the training, expressed their frustration.
‘’How can we go for a program and then you give us rice balls with groundnut soup and then how should you do that when people are coming from Dodowa and all over the country? You see, these are some of the things they do to persons with disabilities’’.
‘’They came in their position to help us. And then they didn’t even say anything. All they were talking about was a CV and what was’’.
‘’And they asked us to come around it. But they came in around quarter to 1:00 and they came in and were seated in the heat. They not even put on the AC.
We had to put on windows and were shouting when they came in.
