Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has encouraged Ghanaians to pray for the Electoral Commission (EC) to receive divine guidance as it prepares for the 2024 general elections.
He made this appeal while submitting his presidential nomination forms to the EC on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by his running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, their spouses, and other party leaders, was the first sitting Vice President to file for the presidency and the first candidate to submit his forms for this year’s elections.
He acknowledged the immense responsibility of the EC to conduct the upcoming elections and stressed the importance of prayers for the Commission’s guidance.
“The task ahead of the EC in conducting this year’s elections is a Herculean one, and Ghanaians must pray for them as they ensure the smooth running of the elections,” he noted.
Dr. Bawumia also expressed his confidence in the EC’s ability to conduct a free and fair election.
Jean Adukwei Mensa, Chairperson of the EC in response, assured that a special team has been set up to ensure all candidates comply with the electoral requirements.
She expressed confidence that the process would be carried out fairly.
