The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the violence during the 2020 elections, as expressed by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah during his campaign tour in the Banda constituency.
He emphasized that the party will not engage in peace talks until justice is served for the eight lives lost and the violence that occurred, particularly the killing of teacher Silas Wulechemy in Banda.
Speaking at various durbar of chiefs and community engagements at Bui, Bongase and Banda Ahenkro in the Banda constituency, the National Chairman asserted that the reluctant nature of the government in arresting the perpetrators of the 2020 general elections which led to the death of eight innocent souls at Techiman in the Bono region as well as the killing of a teacher in Banda have led to distrust of government and the security agencies.
Asiedu Nketiah criticized the government’s inaction regarding these violent incidents, leading to a growing distrust among the public.
He vowed that if the NDC comes to power, it will ensure that all responsible for election-related violence are held accountable.
The chief of Bui, Nana Kojo Wuo II, urged political leaders to promote unity and responsible campaigning, calling for promises that can be delivered and advising against inciting violence among supporters
