Ghanaians on the social media page X have tackled former British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, after he attacked Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams.
Jon Benjamin fired shots at Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams over his comments at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day on July 1, 2025.
The founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, stated he looks forward to a Ghana where the youth no longer queue at embassies for visas.
According to Duncan-Williams, he is looking forward to a Ghana where the youths no longer search for greener pastures abroad, but only to travel for vacations.
Speaking during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held on Tuesday, July 1, at the State House in Accra, Nicholas Duncan-Williams stated, “I look forward to a Ghana where our sons and daughters no longer queue at embassies for visas in search of greener pastures, but only to travel for vacations”.
Reacting to Duncan-Williams’ statement Jon Benjamin on X stated, “Duncan-Williams certainly travels for nice vacations, on occasion booking the whole first-class cabin of the BA flight to London for his family.
I wonder if the poor people who give him ‘tithes’ they can’t afford, and which undermine their economic survival, known in what high luxury he lives. I saw that luxury with my own eyes at his house and office,” he wrote.
However, Ghanaians on X are having none of that, firing shots at Jon Benjamin.
A netizen stated, “Who’s this foòl? How does issues of Ghana concerns you? Oh, u want Ghanaians to keep queuing to go to that your stupíd country to be enslaved? Your useless embassy makes more in an hour than any amount of tithes he receives in a year 🤡”.
Another Ghanaian stated, “Mahn you’re English and should have understood what he said he’s praying that every Ghanaian, including those giving him tithe would be able to afford what he’s enjoying as you claiming”.
“Why do guys always have problem about the “tithes” first is not your money🤷♂️, second you use your money for what you think it will help you. Why can’t you leave people to use their money for what they is better for them?”, one netizen stated.
