Solomon Owusu, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has said the clergymen involved in the $97m sunk into the National Cathedral must be prosecuted.
The Movement for Change noted that when the clergy is confronted, they say we should not touch the anointed.
According to Solomon Owusu, the Clergy must be touched because some anointed are very bad.
Speaking on TV3 Key Point, Solomon Owusu detailed, “We must confront them. When we confront people, they say we should not touch the anointing. We will touch your annointing because this is how annointing is, then it is a very bad annointing.
We have to touch because some anointed are very bad. Who are the anointed? These are not Prophets. You are claiming that when we go to Rome, you will see that Cathedrals are people in Rome are sleeping on their bellies to go to school or to write”.
He added, “Go and see the roads that we pile on $97 million, the contractor between Amasaman and Nsawam is demanding $45 million, is that not the case we have used 97 million to sink a hole, is it not pathetic and this is a party that is telling you that we should give them an opportunity to come and lead us again.
So that they can come and dig holes, that will not happen, we must not allow it is pathetic.
But on the basis of the management letters alone, without any forensic audit it is enough to indict a lot of people. People must be lined up and prosecuted”.
Meanwhile, Kwame Jantuah, a leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has also stated that former president Akufo-Addo must answer questions on how 97million was spent on the National Cathedral.
According to Kwame Jantuah, the National Cathedral project caused financial loss to the state.
Kwame Jantuah added, “Call Former President Akufo-Addo and question him on the National Cathedral issues. Something should be done, and we shouldn’t leave it like that. He should explain how the money has been spent”.
“Let the Attorney-General take it up and question him,” he added.
Their comments come on the back of Felix Kwakye, who yesterday, July 18, revealed that documents show Ghana owes the National Cathedral contractor an additional $39 million, raising the total project cost to $97 million, far above the widely cited $58 million.
The Minister of State in Charge of Communication, addressing the media on Friday, July 18, 2025, stated, “Contrary to the widely held view that total payments and contributions to the National Cathedral project amount to $58 million, there is actually an additional outstanding payment of $39 million to the contractor.
When added, this brings the total cost incurred so far for the hole that sits at the site of the project to $97 million”.
