Manasseh Azure Awuni an award-winning investigative journalist has declared that Ghana as a country has returned to democracy as President John Dramani Mahama clocks 120 days in office.
The investigative journalist in one sentence on his X page wrote, “ Ghana has returned to democracy”.
Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications has announced President John Dramani Mahama will account to Ghanaians on his 120-day social contract tonight.
President Mahama is expected to address the nation at 8:30 pm in a live TV and radio broadcast.
In a post on X Felix Kwakye Ofosu wrote, “President John Dramani Mahama will account to the nation on his 120-day Social Contract tonight at 8:30 pm in a live TV and radio broadcast”.
Mahama’s return to the presidency has been marked by a flurry of activity, reforms, and policy rollouts, as his administration races to fulfill key campaign promises.
In the first 120 days, President Mahama has made substantial progress in governance, economy, education, and social welfare, with several pledges yet to be initiated.
Some notable fulfilled promises include:
Rollout of the Mahama Cares social protection framework
Free sanitary pad initiative for schoolgirls
Launch of the One Million Coders Programme to build digital skills among youth
Introduction of the Adwumawura Programme to promote job creation
Free tertiary education for persons with disabilities
Black Star Experience, a flagship tourism and cultural revival program
Restructuring of loss-making State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to ensure efficiency
Seed money for the Women’s Development Bank
Establishment of the Accelerated Export Development Council
Probing the Akosombo dam spillage, which affected thousands
Additionally, a renowned educationist and former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Prof Stephen Adei has stated anybody who is objective will say President Mahama has done very well in his first 120 days.
