Minister of Communications, Digital Technology & Innovations, Samuel Nartey George has thrown a jab at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming they blame him for everything that goes wrong with them.
According to him, the NPP tries to blame every single misfortune of theirs on him, and even try to use him to achieve their relevance.
He indicated that the pain of defeat has clouded the minds of members of the opposition NDC.
Sam George pointed out that he is currently focused on improving the nation’s digitally inclusive and functional ecosystem for Ghanaians, and has no time to waste on the NPP.
“Even when they constipate, they blame Sam George. The pain of defeat has clouded even logical minds to believe that I lose sleep over someone’s attempt to be relevant,” he wrote on his X page.
Sam George also expressed surprise over how the NPP perceive him as powerful than he can ever imagine.
“A certain Sam George seems to be more powerful than even he knows. Even when they constipate, they blame Sam George. The pain of defeat has clouded even logical minds to believe that I lose sleep over someone’s attempt to be relevant. I am focused on delivering a digitally inclusive and functional ecosystem for the people of Ghana. By the time you realise, we have reduced 38% to 14.5%,” his post read.
His post is perceived to come in response to a claim made by a member of the NPP.
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has been under fire after his wife’s foundation, Dzata Foundation, held an event in partnership with MTN and Innohub.
Sam George had defended himself, stating that MTN was not a sponsor but only a partner, and he personally covered all costs. However, a die-hard NPP supporter, PK Sarpong finds this hard to believe. He questioned how Sam George, in less than five weeks of being appointed a minister, suddenly has enough money to fund such an event when, according to reports, his wife was the one taking care of him before his appointment.
“In less than five weeks of appointment, Sam George has so much to sponsor his wife’s event when before appointment his wife was taking care of him. The 7th Wonder of the world is more like it,” Sarpong mocked.
His comments suggest that Sam George may not be telling the full truth about where the funding for the event came from. Many people are now asking whether he used personal funds or if state resources played a role.
