Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo has been named Chairman of the Finance Committee in Parliament.
Isaac Adongo will lead the committee in reviewing the national budget, tax policies, and other critical financial issues, leveraging his expertise in economic and fiscal matters in this role.
His position, some say may be an addition to him being appointed to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) board be a way of appeasing him after he was not given any ministerial appointment.
Following he not receiving any ministerial appointment, Isaac Adongo revealed that President John Dramani Mahama’s advisors thought he was above the Deputy Minister position
Isaac Adongo asserted that he would have accepted a Deputy Minister if he had been offered to him by the president.
According to Isaac Adongo, he was really expecting to be appointed minister by President John Mahama.
His comments follow concerns from some of his constituents, who believe President John Dramani Mahama has snubbed in his ministerial appointments.
Isaac Adongo, the Bolgatanga Central Lawmaker has finally been appointed by President John Dramani Mahama as a member of the Bank of Ghana board member.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Thursday, February 27, Isaac Adongo revealed, “I was really expecting to be made a minister,” he stated. “However, the advisors of the President thought I was above the position of Deputy Minister, but I would have accepted the role if Prez John Mahama had offered it to me.”
His new position was made public after parliament announced a re-composition of its committees, introducing notable leadership appointments aimed at enhancing legislative oversight and governance.
Among the key changes, Abena Osei-Asare has been appointed as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a crucial body responsible for scrutinizing government financial expenditures and ensuring accountability in the use of public funds. She succeeds James Avedzi, the former Member of Parliament for Ketu North, who previously held the position.
Additionally, Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng has been appointed Chairman of the Budget Committee.
This committee plays a vital role in overseeing the preparation and implementation of the national budget, ensuring that fiscal allocations align with Ghana’s developmental priorities.
These appointments reflect Parliament’s commitment to strengthening its oversight functions and promoting accountability in governance.
