Professor Ransford Gyampo, a Professor of Political Science and now the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO)of Ghana Shippers Authority has boldly stated you are a nation wrecker if you refuse to serve the nation.
According to Professor Gyampo, it is unpatriotic to refuse the opportunity to serve the nation.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues, Professor Gyampo detailed, “You have been a neutral, they see you as a neutral and so you are not NDC you are not NPP, and a government comes and tells you that look even though you are a neutral we want you to come and serve and then you say that be because I am neutral I cannot serve.
In my view it is actually, unpatriotic, it is actually nation-wrecking, and actually a show of lack of commitment to the nation’s course to criticise a regime for wrongdoing, and to refuse an opportunity to go help right what is wrong in the service of not a political party but in service of a nation, you are a nation wrecker who is not of sort and you must not have a place in the nations governance process”, he added.
Prof Gyampo further stated he would maintain his role as a public critic if the government doesn’t listen in private. “ I can’t keep quiet; if it’s wrong, I will talk about it. I come out publicly when avenues for airing views are blocked. If I have access I will talk to the president directly”.
He further revealed it was a pleasant surprise and had to spend almost the whole night not sleeping, thinking because he had been at the University of Ghana for almost 20 years.
