The National Tripartite Committee has announced a 10% increase in daily Minimum wage for 2025.

According to the 10 percent increment the new wage stands at GHS 19.97 per day.

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, a statement from the National Tripartite Committee signed by the Minister of Labor,  President of Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) and Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress made this known after negotiations were held.

The committee which commenced negotiation on February 3, 2025, was represented by the Government, Employers and Organised Labour Association.

The National Tripartite Committee revealed that the increase was made considering the economic hardship in the country, business sustainability, cost of living and employment growth.

According to their statement, the new minimum wage will take effect from March 1, 2025.

All employers paying below the minimum wage have been tasked to adjust their wages.

Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment Hon. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo stated, “We have taken into account the economic realities and the need to protect workers while ensuring businesses remain sustainable”.

The President of Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA),Nana Dr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee has also stated, “Employers must take note of this increment and make the necessary adjustments”.

“Workers deserve fair wages that reflect the rising cost of living. We hope to see even more progress in the future,” Mr. Joshua Ansah, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) also added.

Meanwhile, the statement also warned Institutions that flout the 2025 minimum wage shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

The National Tripartite Committee has also recommended the 2025 NDMW should be tax exempt.
