Gov’t commences negotiations into determining new minimum wage

The National Tripartite Committee has commenced negotiations to determine a new minimum wage for 2025.

The committee represented by the Government, Employers and Organised Labour Association commenced negotiations yesterday Monday, February 3, 2025.

According to Presidency Communications, after the minimum wage negotiations, discussions on base pay for public sector salaries will initiated.

Under the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, both processes are behind schedule, as they were originally expected to be completed by the end of April 2024.

These delays have raised concerns about their impact on the 2025 Budget planning.

The Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has highlighted the significance of concluding the discussions rapidly to provide necessary financial parameters for the fiscal year.
