The 88 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority in Parliament have rejected the nomination of Samuel Nartey George as Minister for Communication.
Minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin made their stance known during the vote to approve Sam George.
“Mr. Speaker as indicated in the report by the Committee, the 88 members of the minority, reject the nomination of Honourable Sam Nartey George. We remain opposed to the decision for his nomination to be approved by this house by consensus. We rely on our earlier grounds of opposition without more,” he stated.
According to him however, the decision to approve Samuel George is solely in the hands and on the heads of the “Majority in this house. It is their cross to carry.”
The Minority Caucus abstained from the vote on Samuel George’s approval, “we are therefore opposed to it and Mr. Speaker it is the Majority. Carry your own cross.”
The Majority Caucus however voted overwhelmingly to approve Samuel Nartey George as the Minister for Communication.
