Alhaji Collins Dauda the former Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing has broken his silence after an Accra High Court discharged him and three others over the $200 million Saglemi Affordable Housing case.
According to Alhaji Collins Dauda, he is grateful to Allah.
Speaking after the court hearing Collins Dauda stated, “I’m grateful to Allah”.
Collins Dauda was hit with 70 charges of causing financial loss to the state over the Saglemi Affordable Housing project.
A Principal State Attorney on January 24, 2023, told the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court that the Prosecution of fresh charges of intentionally misapplying public property, causing financial loss and others.
Collins Dauda, Kweku Agyeman Mensah, Alhaji Zeblim Yakubu, and Nouvi Tetteh Angelo were in court for allegedly causing a $200 million financial loss to Ghana.
A fourth accused, Albert Clocanau, has passed away, with the four pleading not guilty to 70 counts.
On February 7, 2025, the new Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine filed a Nolle Prosequi to officially discontinue charges against them.
State Prosecutors led by Hilda Craig, today February 25, 2025, officially informed the presiding Judge, Justice Ernest Owusu-Dapaa of the AG decision.
Ms Craig stated, “We are here to inform the court of our entry of Nolle Prosequi in this case filed on February 7, 2025. It means that the case has come to an end at this point and the accused persons can be discharged at this point pursuant to the filing of the Nolle Prosequi”.
The Defense lawyers for the four did not object to the AG’s request to terminate the trial and expressed gratitude to the AG and the Court.
The four who are facing trial before Justice Ernest Owusu Dapaah, a Justice of the Court of Appeal will no longer appear in Court to face charges.
