Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin abandoned his fellow Members of Parliament (MP) in the minority caucus to their fate today, February 4, 2025, following their decision to protest against the Speaker of Parliament.
The Minority Caucus planned to protest Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s decision to suspend three (3) of their MPs ahead of Parliamentary proceedings today.
In their protest, all members of the Minority Caucus decided to wear either red or black clothes to parliament to register their displeasure at Speaker Bagbin’s decision.
However, the leader of the caucus, Afenyo-Markin was spotted wearing an attire different from what they had agreed to wear.
According to a post made by US based Ghanaian social commentator Kevin Taylor, Afenyo-Markin’s shirt was out of place in the minority’s decision.
“Afenyo fooled the npp mp’s to wear black then he appeared in this print,” he wrote.
The three NPP MPs suspended are; Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Jerry Ahmed Shaib- MP for Weija-Gbawe and Alhassan Tampuli Sulemana-MP for Gushegu.
The fourth MP was Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip.
Speaker Bagbin has however reinstated the four (4) MPs after the leaders of the two caucus’ pleaded with Speaker Bagbin to forgive them.
