Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has reversed the suspension on four Members of Parliament (MPs) following their temporal dismissal from Parliament for their involvement in a scuffle during a vetting session on January 30, 2025.
The four (4) MPs were suspended for two weeks
The four MPs suspended were; Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor (NDC), Frank Annoh-Dompreh (NPP), Alhassan Tampul3i (NPP), and Jerry Ahmed Shaib (NPP).
The NPP Minority Caucus however disagreed with the Speaker’s decision, describing his decision as showing “autocratic and bulling tendencies”.
Following a review of the incident and the intervention by both Majority and Minority leaders, Speaker Bagbin announced the lifting of the suspension, allowing the MPs to resume their parliamentary duties.
The decision seeks to ease tensions and restore a sense of normalcy to parliamentary proceedings.
“The decision to lift the suspension was made after a thorough review of the events that transpired. It is essential for the functioning of our Parliament that we maintain order and decorum,” Speaker Bagbin stated.
