Your early concession eased tensions- Mahama praises Bawumia

President John Dramani Mahama has applauded former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to concede defeat in the 2024 elections.

He indicated that, Dr. Bawumia’s early concession eased tensions and contributed to the early conclusion of the 2024 electoral contest.

“Mahama has won the presidential race decisively,” he added.

“I extend my warmest wishes to H.E. former Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, it was a grueling campaign. And we gave it our all”.

“Your sportsmanship in making an early concession eased tensions and contributed to the early conclusion of the electoral contest. I wish you all the best in your endeavors.”

He made this remark during his inaugural ceremony at the independence Square on January 7, 2025.

Dr. Bawumia who was the presidential candidate of the NPP at the December 7 polls on December 8 conceded defeat to John Mahama.

He declared John Dramani Mahama winner of the elections, admitting that “our internal collation proves that John Mahama has won the election.”
