Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson lost his way at the offices of the Finance Ministry on his first day at work.
In a video shared on Facebook, Dr. Ato Forson was welcomed with smiles and handshakes from staff of the Finance Ministry.
When he finished greeting them, he turned to a direction which seemed to be what he thought was still the Minister’s office when he served as Deputy Finance Minister from March 2013 – January 2017.
Dr. Ato Forson and Fiifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who also served as Deputy Finance Minister from 2009–2013 who accompanied him (Ato Forson) on his first day at work could not help but acknowledge the change at the Ministry.
“Honorable minister we are going to see your office,” one woman said, directing Dr. Ato Forson to his office when she realized he was going the wrong way.
Dr. Ato Forson responded, “really it is not here. I have not been here for over eight (8) years,” he said heartily.
Atto Forson was sworn into office by the President at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, 22nd January 2025. With this, he begins his tenure as the nation’s chief financial strategist, tasked with managing Ghana’s finances and overseeing the formulation and execution of fiscal policies.
