Prophet Mensah has issued a stern 7-day ultimatum to rapper Sarkodie, demanding an apology to President John Dramani Mahama over a recent statement the prophet believes was directed at the president.
Sarkodie’s cryptic Instagram post on January 8, 2025, which read, “Back to Gari soakings like we never left,” has sparked widespread speculation, with many interpreting it as a jab at Mahama, following his return to office after eight years.
In a video shared on X , Prophet Mensah is seen performing a dramatic ritual, boiling herbs in a plastic bucket over a fire.
He declared that if Sarkodie fails to apologize, he would spiritually cast poverty upon the rapper and his family using the fire as a symbol of his intent.
The statement has reignited debates about Sarkodie’s political affiliations and his history of critiquing economic hardships through music.
Sarkodie was vocal about his discontent with Mahama’s administration during 2013-2016, highlighting issues like inflation in his songs.
However, critics have accused him of remaining silent on similar issues during the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration (2017-2024), leading to allegations of political bias and alignment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The rapper’s post has drawn mixed reactions, with some social media users defending him, while others accuse him of partisanship.
