Investigative Journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has revealed that if the margin of victory in the 2024 elections had been narrow Ghana may have erupted in flames.

According to Manasseh Azure Awuni, if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had not conceded defeat early enough to douse the rising tension, NPP’s supporters would have also massed up at collation centers.

The investigative journalist noted that Ghana would have had a different story about the 2024 elections if John Mahama’s victory was a narrow one.

Manasseh Azure’s comments come on the backfoot of the Electoral Commission re-collating some parliamentary election results after they were earlier declared.

He wrote on X, “”If the Vice President and presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, had not conceded defeat early enough to douse the rising tension and the NPP’s supporters had also massed up in equal measure at the collation centres, we would have had a different story about our election.

“If the margin of victory in this election had been narrow, our nation may have erupted in flames”, he added.

In an earlier post, Manasseh Azure fired the NDC supporters for interfering with the collation process which gave the Electoral Commission the basis for a re-collation using the disruption caused by the rowdy NDC supporters.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, the Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom has boldly claimed that the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s early acceptance of defeat in the 2024 presidential elections is to blame for the ongoing parliamentary seat brouhaha.

According to the member of parliament, the post-electoral violence, including the re-collation of some constituency results is attributed to Dr. Bawumia’s early concession.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat some days before the EC chair Jean Mensa officially declared the 2024 election results, with many Ghanaians praising him for his statesmanship, some NPP members were not too pleased with his early concession.
