Winston Amoah, a presenter and Senior Journalist with Multimedia Group JOYFM has said things will be difficult for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wins the Ashanti region by a margin of 1 million.
Winston Amoah revealed in the 2020 elections the NPP won the Ashanti region with some 1.1 million votes which was enough to offset votes from the Northern and Volta regions.
Speaking during the JOY FM News review show, he detailed, “The NDC had more votes in the Ashanti region than they had in the Volta region in 2020, the NPP won the Ashanti region with a margin of some 1.1 million and that was enough to offset the votes from the Northern Region and that of the Volta region”.
“And so, if the NPP gets a margin of victory in the Ashanti region by 1 million it makes the elections difficult for the NDC, but we have also said in this election all you have to do is probably appreciate in your opponent’s strongholds because we do a popular votes system”, he added.
Winston Amoah further detailed, “This is the challenge you maybe focusing on your opponent’s World Bank and leaving your own backyard for exploitation so if you are not careful while you maybe campaigning there believing that you need to reduce their vote you maybe be assuming that all other things are constant where ever they are, with all other things are equal”.
He further noted that while John Mahama is focused on the Ashanti region, Asiedu Nketia is in Greater Accra and has been to the North also which could be the NDC’s strategy, with the NDC running mate also campaigning.
