After failing to secure a win over the Angolans on Friday, November 15, 2024 to project the chances of an AFCON qualifications, the head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the team to earn entry into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This appeal comes after the team missed out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a 1-1 draw with Angola last Friday. Despite this disappointment, Addo is now focused on preparing for the World Cup qualifiers. The results which left the Black Stars trailing behind the likes of Angola, Sudan and Niger on the group F standings is one that historically has been the worst qualification results ever recorded by the team.

According to Otto Addo during a pre-match conference, the team need to focus highly on the World Cup qualifiers and give off their best. He opined that, if the Ghanaian community wants the best of the team, then the world cup qualifiers deserves the necessary support and push.

“I know people are upset and disappointed. I was too, but we need to move forward, we have to give our best in the World Cup qualifiers, and that starts immediately. If Ghanaians want us to qualify, we need their full support”, he said.

The Black Stars are set to play Chad and Madagascar in March 2025. Addo is determined to become the first coach to lead Ghana to two consecutive World Cups. Ghana is currently second in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, tied on points with leaders Comoros.
