According to John Mahama, 12 days to the 2024 elections the NPP are saying they should come to parliament and sit down and look into things.

Speaking on a campaign platform, John Mahama boldly stated, “They have written that we should come to parliament to come and sit down to look into things, 12 days to elections, you are saying we should leave our campaign and come to parliament if they like they should go, NDC we are not going to any parliament”.

“After we vote, and they see their smoothness level that is when we will open parliament for all of us to go”, he detailed.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has firmly stated that the House cannot reconvene ahead of the December elections.

This decision comes in response to a request from the Majority Caucus, which had appealed for an emergency recall to address urgent government business before the polls.

In a letter dated November 22, 2024, and signed by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the caucus proposed November 28 and 29 as potential dates for the session.

Bagbin, in a memo to the majority on Tuesday, November 26, noted that “The House will resume sitting after the elections to complete all essential matters before a seamless transition to the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.”
