The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has vowed to take legal action against media outlets that have aired a doctored videotape falsely attributing comments to him regarding the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

The controversial videotape, which has been circulated by several radio and television stations, claims that Asiedu Nketiah stated the next NDC government would cancel the Free SHS programme if elected.

However, Asiedu Nketiah has firmly rejected these claims, calling the video a deliberate manipulation by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) aimed at tarnishing his reputation and gaining political leverage.

In a statement issued during his campaign tour in the Ashanti region, Asiedu Nketiah addressed the chiefs and people of Atasemanso, urging the public to ignore the doctored video.

He further challenged the media outlets responsible for airing the misleading footage, stating, “Meet me in court.”

The NDC Chairman clarified that his remarks had been misrepresented, explaining that his actual statement referred to the party’s commitment to abolishing the double-track system, which he described as problematic for the Free SHS programme.

He emphasized that he had never proposed canceling the Free SHS programme itself, reiterating that the NDC’s stance is focused on addressing issues with its implementation.
