According to them an illegal operation in Saamang, located along the new double road under construction, is being overseen by military personnel.

Indigenous landowners are reportedly being forcibly displaced, with armed individuals hired by the mining firm terrorizing local farmers and making it unsafe for them to access their fields.

Although the land is part of Kibi Goldfields’ concession, the company’s leadership seems unaware that their property is being exploited for these unlawful activities.

Sources suggest that a small group of self-serving employees has illicitly allocated the land to the so-called “Soldier Illegal Mining Company” without the knowledge of Kibi Goldfields management.

The youth assert that while they support responsible mining, they are staunchly opposed to illegal and irresponsible practices.

Many local farmers now live in fear and are unable to tend to their lands.

This situation has led to questions about how the community has arrived at such a dire state, where residents feel like strangers in their own neighborhoods.

In response, the concerned youth are calling on local leaders, including the Chief, Queen Mother, and elders of Saamang, to take immediate action to halt the illegal mining operations.

They are also urging the Managing Director of Kibi Goldfields to establish a team to investigate illegal activities within their concession area.

Additionally, the youth are appealing to the District Commander of Police to act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing the urgent nature of the situation.
