A Senior member of the Movement for Change Communications team, Nana Ntow Amirekyi has chided the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Afenyo Markin for taking delight in the title of Majority leader than his actual duties.
He explained that, ever since his the Effutu Lawmaker assumed the position of the majority leader after Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, he has only been seen seeking clarifications for how people address him leaving his actual duties. He stressed that, by ignoring his legislative duties and also his portfolio as the leaders of government businesses, Afenyo Markin is only causing harm to the President more than to himself because he has been untrusted a big role to perform.
According to Nana Ntow, the recent parliament impasse on the declaration of vacant seats and the judgment by the Supreme Court does not really reflect the roles Afenyo Markin has to be playing for the President. He mentioned that the recent recall of Parliament and its rejection by the Speaker clearly tells how the Effutu Lawmaker is solely engrossed into his title than the real work that needs to be done.
Nana Ntow further shared that the recent call of Parliament by Afenyo Markin is aligned with the fears that the members of the NPP might not return to Parliament after the elections because they will lose their seats to the NDC and other contenders. He also added that, Speaker Bagbin’s rejection to Parliament recall is in the right direction and needs to be respected as such.
