Ghanaian content creator and influencer, Princess Burland, a participant in the #StopGalamseyNow protests, has called on President Akufo Addo to treat the issue of galamsey with urgency as it also affects his daughter’s restaurant.

In an interview on JoyNews on day one of the protest she cautioned the president to pay more attention to the menace especially because his daughter owns a restaurant most likely to get foodstuff from galamsey striken areas.

“Nana Addo might think galamsey does not affect him forgetting his daughter owns a restaurant most likely to get foodstuff from areas affected by galamsey” she said.

She went on to add that the issue needs to be treated with urgency due to the poor healthcare in Ghana.

“The mercury being used for the galamsey is harmful to our health, children are born deformed and people’s kidneys are getting damaged when we don’t have a strong dialysis center in the country” she added.

Princess Burland went on to commend the youth for coming out to protest and for participating actively and peacefully.
