UK-based journalist, Charles Watts, has disclosed the true reason behind Arsenal’s Thomas Partey unavailability for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers match between Ghana and Sudan.
The Arsenal midfielder is one of four players to have withdrawn from the squad for the two games due to injury concerns.
Partey, Joseph Paintsil, Ibrahim Osman and Kingsley Schindler have all been excused from the team for the two games this international wind.
According to the Ghana Football Association’s statement, Partey will miss out on the game “due to medical issues he is currently experiencing, and his club has scheduled him for further tests in the coming days.”
Charles who covers Arsenal games extensively, revealed that Thomas Partey is not injured but rather suffering from some form of sickness.
“Thomas Partey is staying with Arsenal during the international break. Understand he has been suffering a bit of illness (not an injury) and so it has been agreed he should rest up for a bit after playing so many minutes this season. Purely precaution,” he disclosed.
