The NDC caucus in Parliament has vowed to maintain their majority status in parliament and occupy the right hand side of the chamber if parliament is recalled.
This statement is in reaction to the decision by NPP MPs to petition Speaker, Alban Bagbin to recall the house to consider urgent government businesses barely hours after sitting was adjourned indefinitely.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker, the NPP Caucus highlighted some important government business that has to be approved.
“We respectfully request that, upon recall of the House, the following urgent government business be deliberated upon and transacted including any other business that comes before the House,” portion of the correspondence read.
Some of the significant matters listed in the letter included tax exemptions for companies under the One District One Factory Programme, Bills and the financial stability fund.
Citing the constitution and Parliament’s standing orders, the NPP Caucus noted that Speaker Bagbin is bound to recall Parliament in seven days after receiving the letter.
Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor described the NPP side as cry-babies who are abusing parliamentary processes.
The Lawmaker, however, added that the NDC side will heed to the directive of the Speaker anytime he decides to recall the house
