Ofarnyi Kwegya is known to be the greatest fisherman in Ghana’s history.

According to information gathered Ofarnyi Kwegya is a giant who journeyed from ancient Egypt to Ghana.

Ofarnyi Kwegya has a statue in Moree in the Central Region of Ghana.  Ofarnyi Kwegya was part of Asebu Amnfi’s group that arrived in present-day Asebu.

Both were giants, with Asebu Amanfi founding Asebu town and Ofarnyi Kwegya, a legendary fisherman, settling on the coast due to the abundance of stingrays, giving rise to the name Moree.

He is known as the greatest fisherman in Ghana’s history, his incredible size and skill allowed him to capture vast amounts of fish, leading him to explore and settle in various coastal areas, including Moree and Winneba.
