Seven people have lost their lives on the spot after a VIP bus was involved in an accident at Obretema near Suhum on the Accra Kumasi Highway.
The VIP Bus with registration number GR 7632- 24 was traveling from Tamale to Accra collided with a fuel tanker with registration number UE 9644-22.
The incident occurred on Saturday at about 4:30 am which claimed five males and two females.
Service men from the Police and Fire rushed to the scene and assisted with evacuation and retrieval of the bodies, the bodies have since be sent to the Suhum government hospital.
According to ADO1 Opare Akonnor of the Suhum Fire Service they were able to rescue some people.
“We were able to rescue several people, but we cannot give the actual number of people we have been able to rescue. The accident occurred in the night. We handed over those we were able to rescue to the ambulance service”, he stated.
