Oliver Barker-Vormawor and 12 others remanded into police custody for two weeks

Oliver Barker-Vormawor and 12 other members of the Democracy Hub have been remanded into police custody for two weeks. The group is scheduled to reappear in court on October 8.

This decision follows their initial court appearance, where they faced multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit unlawful assembly, unlawful assembly, unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace, assault on a public officer, defacement of public property, and stealing.

Barker-Vormawor, who had previously missed a court session due to ill health, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Barker-Vormawor was arrested following allegations of unlawful activities during the group’s demonstration over the weekend.

On Wednesday, the Ghana Police Service refuted allegations that it denied medical care to Barker-Vormawor, clarifying that Barker-Vormawor along with another member of the group, Fanny Otoo, had been admitted to the Police Hospital after reporting ill health.
