Kwadwo Adjei Gyimah, a football analyst based in the UK, has provided Ghana with a lasting solution to its embarrassing pitch issues.
CAF has banned the Black Stars from playing any of its 2025 AFCON qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Ghana’s only approved venue for international matches.
CAF’s ban comes to force because Ghana’s pitches are unsuitable for playing forball. The national team, therefore, has to find alternative venues outside of the country to play its home games.
Recently, the Togolese FA denied granting its stadium to Ghana to play its home game against Sudan on October 10, citing scheduling conflicts as reason for the refusal.
In an interview, the analyst highlighted the importance of infrastructure development for football, urging Ghana to primarily focus on improving its pitches.
“There are different seeds of different grasses that do well in every horizon, and then we have to pay more attention in developing these seeds and making sure that we have such a very standard pitch for all of us to play football on,” he advised Ghana to develop grass seeds which are favourable to Ghana’s conditions and climate.
Bana 9Kwadwo Gyimah advised the country to endeavour to protect its pitches, urging the country to avoid using its pitches for events beyond football.
