Ace broadcast Journalist Bridget Otoo has reacted to findings made by the Education Ministry regarding the 22,000 expired bags of rice delivered to Senior High Schools across the country.
According to Bridget Otoo the Ministry of Education is heartless for telling Ghanaians that the rice had expired but the expiry date got extended.
The Ministry of Education after Hon. Ablakwa brought to light the 22,000 bags of expired rice stated they were investigating the situation. The Spokesperson of the Education Ministry Kwasi Kwarteng took to social media page X to make the findings of the investigation known to Ghanaians.
He revealed on the advice of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), that Lamens Ventures followed the necessary protocols to have the rice re-tested in India, its country of origin.
Kwasi Kwarteng’s statement on the findings added, “The re-testing was to ascertain the possibility of extending the rice’s shelf life by an additional year, to December 2024”.
“Following further evaluations and verifications, the FDA granted a temporary extension of the rice’s Best Before” date to 30th April 2024, after confirming the product’s continued wholesomeness”, the findings added.
Reacting to the findings, Bridget Otoo retweeted Kwasi Kwarteng’s post, writing, “So now if your product expires, go to FDA for a new expiry date … You people are heartless!!!”.
