The Ghana Police Service has arrested Oheneba Nana Asiedu of the Wontumi F.M to assist them in an investigation in connection with the publication of a fake news.
In a two minutes video which has been sighted by the Ghana Police Service upon which his arrest has been activated, He claimed that the Electoral Commission has decided to split the election into two days. According to him, on 7th December, Ghanaians would only be allowed to vote for candidates in positions 1 to 7 on the ballot paper, and on the following day, they could vote for candidates in positions 8 to 13.
The Ghana Police Service upon receipt of the video has arrested him and sent to the Ashanti Regional Command to assist in investigation based on the false publication he made while hosting the show.
The Police Service in a statement urged the public particularly media personnel to exercise utmost caution and responsibility and refrain from publishing false news which is likely to disturb the public peace before, during and after the upcoming general election.
