Media personality Ransford Annetey Abbey known as Randy Abbey questions the rationale behind the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development’s decision in creating new districts.
Only about 80 days until the general elections the government through the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development has issued a communique to all Municipal and District Assemblies in response to petitions filed by the Chiefs, Traditional Authorities, Members of Parliament, Opinion Leaders, Citizens, and existing M/Das for the creation and elevation of certain M/DAs.
In the statement signed by Chief Director of the Ministry, Amin Abdul-Rahaman, emphasized the scope of this endeavor by stating, “The Ministry has constituted an Inter-Institutional Task Team to undertake field assessment of the petitions and make recommendations to the Honourable Minister.
This ensures that all requests are thoroughly evaluated, and only those that meet the necessary criteria will be recommended for elevation or creation.”
