The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission has quizzed the recent surge in interest shown by major political parties seeking power, to fight galamsey after thirty years.
In an exclusive interview with Adom TV, Mr. Ayisi said, never in his life has he seen all political parties in the country seeking power boldly come out in their manifestos to fight galamsey. According to him, what were the political parties in the country interested in for the past thirty years of the fourth republic.
Mr. Ayisi, stressed that, the recent interest by political parties giving bold solutions to fight galamsey gives relevance to what the Minerals Commission has been advocating since 1989. He said in 1989 when the small scales gold law was passed, the minerals commission led by Akilakpa Sawyer and Kofi Ansah reported on areas blocked out and needed research by the geological service to identify the potential minerals in those areas.
