Vice-president IMANI Africa, Bright Simons has questioned why some Ghanaians are speculating about whether the positions on the 2024 ballot papers may change after the death of Akua Donkor.
According to Bright Simons, the printing of the ballot papers has already started and hence ballot positions cannot be changed.
In a write on X, Bright Simons wrote, “Instead, some are speculating about whether positions on the ballot may change, thereby disrupting some campaign memes based on candidate positioning. Unlikely as that is given that ballot printing is said to have started already”.
“Why did this even become an issue at all? Because a provincial political biggie once threatened to upset candidates’ ballot positions to demonstrate his “powers” not too long ago. Yes, for real”, he noted.
Bright Simons revealed that “All manner of strange things can stir up intrigue about Ghanaian elections. Gossip about the suspected death of one of the 13 presidential candidates is not prompting analysis about who might scoop up the “orphaned” voters”.
