Former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, has issued a stern warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), declaring that the NDC will fiercely resist any form of intimidation in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
At a campaign launch in the Nhyiaeso Constituency, following a march through the constituency’s streets, Mr.Obimpeh reiterated the NDC’s commitment to maintaining peace but emphasized that the party would not remain passive if faced with intimidation from the NPP. “We stand for peace, but we won’t be intimidated”.
Mr. Obimpeh stressed the importance of peace for the nation’s stability, warning that the absence of peace could make the country ungovernable.
However, he firmly stated that the NDC is ready to counter any acts of intimidation from the governing party.
“If the NPP thinks they can use guns, cutlasses, or clubs to intimidate us, they will find us ready to defend ourselves,” he said, making it clear that the NDC will respond if provoked.
Mr.Obimpeh also urged the NPP to ensure the will of the Ghanaian people prevails, cautioning them against any form of manipulation, which he said could disrupt the peace of the elections.
