National Democratic Congress in Amenfi Central of the Western Region have vowing to resist any attempt by the electoral commission to disqualify their parliamentary candidate, Joana Cudjoe in the December election.
According to them, intelligence picked up from the corridors of Electoral Commission concerning the candidature of our candidate Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe is to disqualify her though she has gone through the process to appear on the ballot paper.
This follows an appeal by Joan Cudjoe’s lawyers to the Electoral Commission over a petition seeking to stop her from contesting in the upcoming December 7 poll.
Lawyers for the parliamentary candidate, Ayine and Associates, in an October 15 letter to the EC, stressed that Joana Gyan Cudjoe remains the NDC’s duly elected candidate of the party. Excerpts of the appeal reads
“The instruction of our clients is that they have become aware of an alleged petition dated September 13, 2024 and a subsequent letter dated September 24, 2024 served on your office wherein the petitioners claim that there is a purported pending order of
interlocutory injunction restraining Joana Gyan Cudjoe from holding herself out as the duly elected NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Amenfi Central Consistency in the Western Region, and also restraining both the NDC and the Electoral
Commission, their agents and officers from holding out, allowing Joana Gyan Cudjoe to be held out, dealt with in any way, recognized or afforded any rights or privileges as the duly elected NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Amenfi Central Constituency.”
