Founder and Leader of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, says Ghanaians have no ethics and respect for our land, hence the current destruction of the nation’s water and forest reserves because of galamsey.
Speaking to his congregation with a pictorial presentation, he shared images of the Lena River in Russia and the Yukon River in Canada which are very clear and unpolluted.
He disclosed that these two rivers are home to huge gold and mineral deposits, but “because they are thinking of posterity, the law and ethics, the do not allow anyone to mine in them.”
Addressing the current state of Ghana and the increasing spread of galamsey practices in the country, he noted, “meanwhile, you and I have no ethics for our land. We are allowing people from everywhere to come to Ghana for galamsey because we are doing it.”
He argues Ghanaians are not thinking of the future and posterity, hence the practice of galamsey becoming the new normal.
The man of God cautioned that if this menace is not curbed immediately, the nation may no longer be able to export cash and food crops for foreign exchange.
