Workers of Zoomlion Ghana have lamented about their poor condition stating they are being paid GH₵250 a month.
According to the workers they have not been paid for over 10 months and are facing severe hardships which has led two persons dying.
Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, one of the leaders of workers stated, “Speaking now two persons have died, this Saturday we will be going to bury one, we don’t have money to buy medicine, we pick cars to work, our money is 250 cedis a month, and they are not able to pay”
The worker further bemoaned how they are going to take care of themselves and their families and take their children to school.
“We can’t use our strength to work and die leaving our money, the most painful part is when someone dies while working for Zoomlion they don’t even pay anything to the bereaved family. We do not have pension pay, we do not have any health insurance, if you are sick there is no designated hospital to go as a Zoomlion worker”. She reiterated.
The leader of the Zoomlion workers added that, the work they are doing they get nothing from it stating some of them have spent over 15 to 17 years of their life doing this.
