Residents of Adabraka, a suburb in Accra’s central business district, are living in fear following a daylight robbery that occurred over the weekend.
“We are not safe at all; we are still afraid,” one resident stated.
In an interview with Joy News’s Sweety Aborchie on Monday morning, November 4, 2024, residents expressed their growing concerns about safety in the area.
They revealed that this latest robbery marks the third incident in the past three months, attributing the crimes to a lack of security presence in the area. Some residents also criticized a local business owner for not prioritizing security at their shop.
According to residents, the area lacks a permanent police presence, which they believe contributes to the recurrence of such robberies. They reported that the robbers, after seizing cash, threw approximately GHȼ30,000 into the air before fleeing.
In response, residents are urging the police to establish a permanent station in Adabraka to improve security and deter further incidents.
