The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has turned the Breaking the 8 mantra around and used it against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
It can be recalled that the NPP brought the Breaking the 8 mantra, saying they will be the first party in Ghana’s history to break the eight year cycle of political parties leading in Ghana.
However, after the balloting of positions on the ballot paper for the 2024 December 7 polls, the NDC picked the number 8 position on the ballot paper.
After picking the number 8 position, the NDC turned things around, changing their campaign message to say they have been ordained to break the 8 (kick the NPP out of power.
Some supporters of the NDC have taken this mantra from beyond just chants to making a music video to convey their message further.
Some Ghanaian boxers, Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers were seen in the music video, dancing along with the singers.
