Some illegal miners in Amenfi East have embarked on a demonstration against the ban and proposed fight on illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.
According to the protestors, placing a ban on galamsey will cause untold hardship on them, affecting their livelihood.
A video of their demonstration shows some galmseyers, women, sitting on the ground crying “we will die of hunger. Our children and I will die of hunger” with others singing along, “we will not be intimidated. We will keep practicing galamsey.”
