The Sekondi Sports Complex, also known as the Essipong stadium, has been left in a decaying state by the Nana Addo-led NPP government.
Despite Nana Addo’s cousin who’s also the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, being paid GHC6.5million for rehabilitation works and promising that the stadium was 90% through with renovation works back in 2021, a video which recently surfaced online tells a totally different story.
The video, captured from outside the stadium, show the stadium’s surrounding roads full of potholes, and more than half of the roofing worn off, leaving the anchoring metals bare and prone to rusting and decay.
Other videos circulating online from last year also show the insides of the stadium, with most chairs broken and their supporting metals laying bare and rusted, and sand covering every part of the stadium like an ancient war zone.
For years, complaints have been made about the deteriorating state of the stadium after it was abandoned since it hosted the ‘CAN 2008’ but all the NPP government has done about it so far is allocate money to wasters and cover up with lies of rehabilitation works being done.
